She’s in Tech - with Lyndsey Browning and Susan Ma

Podcast link Here: She's in Tech / This dot Labs

In today's episode, Lyndsey and Susan are joined by guest Noa Ronen. Here are the questions they discussed:

  • You spent some time in the Israeli Navy after high school. Would you say that inspired you into leadership and coaching?

  • There’s been a number of changes in your career, from starting out in the Navy to being where you are now. Change is something that can be difficult and potentially scary for a lot of people. What advice would you give to someone who is looking to make a change in their career, for example, into the tech industry?

  • I feel lucky as a developer that I am in a job that I love. How important do you think feeling passionate about something is to being successful in your career, and what drives that passion?

  • In the tech industry, and as developers, we are always doing something, our minds often working overtime. I think sometimes we forget that we’re on overdrive for so long, and then sometimes it hits us and we can become burnt out. Do you have any advice for people who may be going through something similar?

  • Another thing I wanted to talk to you about is impostor syndrome. That feeling where you don’t feel good enough or when you start questioning your abilities and whether you’re in the right position. I’ve had it so many times in my own career, and I still do. It’s a normal process to go through and I think it never truly goes away, but how do we learn to accept the feeling, and is there anything we should be doing to combat it?

  • You’ve had speaking experience in your career. Public speaking is daunting for many people, do you have any tips for someone who wants to start speaking, at conferences for example?

NOA RONEN, a leadership coach and author from Raleigh, North Carolina, joined us to discuss her career, her views on leadership, and her latest release, "BEyond: Leadership: From AwareLess To AwareNess".

From Her Website:

"My personal relocation experience, reminded me that many times when we step into the path of change, we think we know how the change is going to look like, but in reality even though we try to control every step along the way to shape it as we want, the end result will look differently and this is when we feel stuck.Change Taught Me That There Are Two Main Energies That Can Help Us Thrive Or Get Stuck; The Being And Doing Energies.

Those energies can help us create a momentum with our leadership or keep us stuck. Until we learn to identify and then evaluate the situation we stay in what I call a state of AwareLess."

Bravefull podcast with Amy ziegert

Naming and classifying things give us order and direction; it is helpful to know where we can find those things and perhaps what to expect from them. Something similar happens when we meet someone. We put them in a box and create an idea of how they are, how they think, and so forth, depending on their title or job. But most importantly, we do that to ourselves; we place ourselves in the category we think we belong to, and that can be limiting. We'll hardly picture ourselves doing something different from what someone in that box is expected to do.
Today I'm joined by Noa Ronen, a true outside of the box coach. She is an Executive Coach, Author, a Group Coach, Blogger, and a Vlogger. Noa has over 20 years of experience in change management, HR and project management, talent development and relocation, and ex-pat coaching. Throughout her coaching, Noa's mission is to help people dare, stirring a conscious leaders' movement.
In this episode, we talked about Noa's particular journey in becoming a coach, her idea of coaching before, and how it evolved into what it is today. We also talked about the differences between being and doing energy and what we can do to find our courage. Noa kindly shared her perspective on values and how they guide us throughout our lives. We talked about her latest book, about her ego, and how she reassessed her why after asking honest questions to herself. Noa also shared the details of her Walking Mastermind, a revolutionary coaching group session she does for no charge.

Some Questions I Ask:

  • You talked about doing energy and being energy. Can you expand on that a little bit? (9:28)

  • You have written a book, write on your blog, and vlogging; how are you feeling about that now? (15:19)

  • Could you tell me about the mastermind? I'm intrigued (23:40)

  • How many people, on average, participate in your Walking Mastermind group? (34:59)

From Israel to the US, Noa Ronen has found out a lot about herself and how she can now help people. We got the chance to talk about how her coaching company came about, and how the people coming to her with the same kinds of challenges led her to start Noa Ronen Coaching. With so many leaders and executives not sure how to communicate and lead once a company gets to a certain size, she realized she had the ability to help them. Understanding how to manage one's energy and even how to distinguish whether it's 'doing energy' or 'being energy' is a big part of what she does. We barely scratched the surface, but this high energy conversation is sure to leave you wanting to learn more. If you're an executive wondering how to lead in a new era, Noa's an excellent person to get to know. Find her at noaronencoaching.com or @noarcoach everywhere on social media. About this Episode:
According to my guest, Noa Ronen, Speaker and Certified Coach, when we stop chasing our goals and simply surrender, we allow the universe to do its job to get us the things we want. When we’re so focused on trying to accomplish the big goals, we often overlook the small wins. It is important to recognize small wins because it gives us a sense of accomplishment and purpose, and reason to strive for more.

Hey there. My name is Noa (no h here - it is the #1 baby girls' name in Israel) Ronen, I am a. vlogger, disruptor, and coffee lover. I am also a speaker, author, and leadership coach and my focus is on social leaders - people who want to create an impact in this world that is BEYOND money.

When you hear me you will probably hear my accent first, my love for coffee second, and my passion to have real conversations that challenge me and the norms third. This is why I enjoy being a podcast guest so much. It honestly brings me joy to have a REAL conversation with you while still encouraging the audience to think outside the box. To challenge their way of thinking. To ask themselves, am I stuck with only two options when there is actually a third and fourth way to look at where I am and my approach to the solution?

Yes, I am a speaker, yes I wrote a book about BEyond Leadership and the journey from AwareLess to AwarenNess (with some AwareMess) that incorporate; How my relocation experience impacted my life, the messiness of being stuck for five years, and why we are stuck with what I call: the illusion of awareness. I love to explain why I believe it is so important to move from doing business, life, or leadership to being leaders in everything we do so we can see new results –– I call this BEyond Leadership.

Nevertheless, my WHY is to share my REAL messy story because I see so many people who struggle and stop believing in themselves. I want to remind your audience that maybe it is not about getting from point A to point B, that maybe there is a point C along the way.
